RocBloc Setts
RocBloc natural stone pavers are produced in two standard ranges: Airedale and Wharfedale. These can be used separately or together, will naturally cross-bond and can be laid to produce a variety of patterns with the minimum of cutting and wastage. Packing ratios can be non-standard (to the clients requirements) or single sizes can be purchased and packed to your exact volumes. Non-standard sizes can also be produced to order.

The RocBoc grooved edges locking system.
The edges of our natural stone paving setts are grooved to give a “combed” profile. This greatly enhances the locking of adjacent pavers and prevents vertical slippage of the blocks when the surface is under load. The resistance to shear is increased compared to a smooth-sided cobble. The effect of the combed edge cannot be over emphasized. The slip resistance between the two surfaces is more than doubled and the cobble will perform more like a paver with twice its depth.
The increased strength of joint applies to both 10mm jointed and butted-up joints filled will kiln-dried sand. Jointed pavers gain better adhesion to the mortar and sand filled pavers get improved grip between the stone surface and the jointing sand.
All natural stone RocBlocs of 50mm thickness and over are “combed” at manufacture. 38mm RocBloc pavers are not normally jointed (pedestrian surfaces only) but can be “combed” on request.

Natural stone RocBoc Pavers laid with a joint.
Although the majority of RocBloc paving is laid in the same fashion as other pavers, the locking edge of the RocBloc is also beneficial when the stone paving is laid with a joint. The slideshow above shows the work of Simon Clay (a contractor specialising in fitting jointed RocBlocs). This system creates a rigid, impermeable, non-S.U.D.S compliant surface and the handling of large volumes of water running off the surface must be carefully considered.
